Being a mother is not easy. We often focus on our children and make them our only priority. We devote most of our time to their schedules, health, studies, fun, and well-being. However, at the end of the day, we always have the feeling of having wasted time, in one way or another.
We forget about ourselves, our priorities, and those fundamental moments to be with ourselves.
Now, with the end of summer and the return to school, we can take advantage of the perfect moment to rethink how we are managing our time and how we can make the most of it.
Here are some tips to make sure you’re not missing hours in your day.
Make weekly task schedules
Whether it’s household chores or personal activities, it’s essential to have a personal schedule for your needs. Make a to-do list and plan your schedule according to those treats you want to indulge in — and don’t leave them out!
Routines are key
Repetition is the master of success, and your routines will give you that bit of mental sanity that is so lacking at times. Mark your times for your skincare, workout, yoga class, or even your Italian lessons. Let home know that mom has her sacred hours!
Online shopping can save you a lot of time
There’s nothing better than technology to stay organized. A good grocery list app and joining online stores for our favorite products will make it much easier than traveling long distances to keep the house stocked.
Plan that weekly coffee with friends
Before we are moms, we are people with specific emotional needs. One of them is to socialize, distract ourselves and keep our friendships alive. So plan one date a week with your friends and relax around a cup of coffee or a cocktail with your chosen family.
The sacred moment of doing nothing
This is the most important point. We have to learn to do nothing. I know it’s very difficult, but we have to learn to take at least one hour a day to empty our heads, read a good book, and forget about the world on the couch. After all, mental saturation is a very bad advisor.
