Day 21: Dress In White

in Inspiration on 12/21/15

Who is that gorgeous vision of a woman dressed in an all-white New Year’s outfit with shoes to kill for and makeup that would make Santa blush? Why, it’s you of course! Or it could be you this Christmas. Let the “espíritu de la Navidad” get a hold of your wardrobe and purify this day by wearing white clothes. One of the best New Year’s traditions that started in Brazil and made its way into the world is based on the idea that the color white is a symbol of purity, peace, kindness and perfection. Wrapping your body in white clothes will help you get a fresh, new, energetic and peaceful start for 2016.

Today we honor those affected and raise awareness Today we honor those affected and raise awareness about human trafficking and forced labor across the United States.

LatinX communities are at increased risk for human trafficking. Some stats by the National Human Trafficking Hotline reveal that 77% of confirmed Latin Americans and Caribbeans are easy targets for traffickers. The remaining 23% are victims of sex trafficking or a combination of sex and labor trafficking.

In terms of where most of these victims come from, six out of ten possible victims from Latin America and the Caribbean come from Mexico. The industry where they are most vulnerable is agriculture.

And not only is the Latinx community at elevated risk of being targeted for human trafficking, but too often, law enforcement and immigration officials seem to miss opportunities to identify and prevent trafficking attempts.

If this cause is close to your heart, you can learn more about identifying a victim at: dhs.gov/blue-campaign/identify-victim
