When the new year starts, many of us create resolutions in hopes of changing for the better. The drive for self-improvement will leave us searching for ways that we can revamp our lives and improve our lifestyles.
I am the first to admit that every year (or better yet, every new month), I am riddled with the desire to start exercising and working on my physical health. I have always been naturally thin, but the older I get, the more I notice myself getting out of shape.
The problem is that I feel bored when I go to the gym. It’s the same machines and routine every single time, which unfortunately is not interesting for me.
During my fitness journey, I stumbled upon yoga in search of an exercise outlet in which I could care for my body but also feel challenged in the process.
Yoga uses physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to create a mind-body connection that promotes physical and mental well-being.
At this point, you may be interested in practicing yoga but not sure where to start.
In honor of Pride month, here are some LGBTQ+ yogi Instagrammers you should follow to get you started in your journey.

Finlay Wilson is a yogi and instructor based in Scotland. He stands out because he demonstrates his yoga poses while wearing a kilt, a nod to his Scottish culture. He is a yoga teacher and author of books Kilted Yoga: Yoga Laid Bare and Wild Kilted Yoga: Flow and Feel Free.
Jess Mackenzie
Another yoga teacher from Scotland, Jess Mackenzie’s Instagram is filled with yoga poses, breathing tips and tricks, and instructional posts about how yoga can positively influence your life.
Jess is also an advocate for self-love, as she does not shy away from speaking (and showing) her struggle with acne.
Jessamyn Stanley

This Yogi advocates for body positivity and ensures you do not have to be extremely thin to practice yoga. You can reap the benefits of this mind-body connection no matter how you look or who you are.
Anton Brandt

His next retreat will take place in Portugal. This Yogi is also a big advocate for those living with HIV.
