Super-Easy Halloween Crafts: Handmade Cheesecloth Ghosts

The first thing you’ll want to do is make the ghost molds. To do that, blow up the balloons and set them on top of a plastic cup. If you want your ghosts to have two hands then take two pipe cleaners and set them inside the cup forming two arms per se.

Double up the cheesecloth and drape it over the mold. Liberally spray the cheesecloth with the spray starch. Wait for it to dry and then spray again. You need to repeat the spraying process many times over several hours. I usually do it about 5-6 times. If you don’t spray it enough, then the ghost will lose its shape.

Once the spraying process is done, pop the balloon using a pin and carefully remove it from the cheesecloth. It will probably stick some, but if you’re careful it won’t be an issue. Attach the felt circles using white glue or hot glue. Hang using fishing line.

In search of simple Halloween crafts that cost next to nothing and look spectacular? Try these cute ghosts made from common household materials. They’re incredibly easy to make, and you can hang them from trees for a slick and spooky Halloween look. You can also hang the ghosts inside the house or anywhere you’d like! What you’ll need:

  • Cheesecloth
  • Spray starch (heavy duty strength)
  • Plastic cups
  • Balloons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Black felt circles for the eyes and mouth
  • Fishing line or clear thread
  • Glue

Today we honor those affected and raise awareness Today we honor those affected and raise awareness about human trafficking and forced labor across the United States.

LatinX communities are at increased risk for human trafficking. Some stats by the National Human Trafficking Hotline reveal that 77% of confirmed Latin Americans and Caribbeans are easy targets for traffickers. The remaining 23% are victims of sex trafficking or a combination of sex and labor trafficking.

In terms of where most of these victims come from, six out of ten possible victims from Latin America and the Caribbean come from Mexico. The industry where they are most vulnerable is agriculture.

And not only is the Latinx community at elevated risk of being targeted for human trafficking, but too often, law enforcement and immigration officials seem to miss opportunities to identify and prevent trafficking attempts.

If this cause is close to your heart, you can learn more about identifying a victim at: dhs.gov/blue-campaign/identify-victim
