Five Ideas To Win the Heart of Any Latina Mom This Mother’s Day

Posted by Latina Moms in Celebrations, Living on 05/06/22

Mother’s Day is rapidly approaching. With that comes all malls and stores turning into an explosion of flowers, stuffed animals, and anything mom-related. As if this reminder was not going around for weeks, most of us kept putting it off because we felt we still had the time.

However, our procrastination has once again left us scrambling for gifts and ideas for the special moms in your life. Besides running to the nearest Target and buying a bouquet of overpriced roses and a Hallmark card, here are some ideas that can win the heart of any Latina mom.

Spa Day

Our moms work hard day in and day out. Now that we are older and have children of our own, we have learned that motherhood is a rewarding yet exhausting experience.

Give the special Latina mom, abuela, or tia in your life the gift of a spa day so they can pamper themselves. This is also a great option if you really have no time left to go anywhere. Simply purchase a gift certificate so they can access it from the comfort of their phone.

Trip to Their Homeland

Amiga, let’s be honest – our Latina moms miss their homeland a lot. While they have set roots in a new place, we watch them become overwhelmed with nostalgia during every holiday they spend apart from their loved ones.

Win her heart over by treating her to a trip to her homeland so she can spend some quality time with her extended family and friends. She will surely feel grateful and remember this forever.

Cook Her Favorite Meal

As a mom, I absolutely hate cooking. If it were up to me, I would pay someone to cook meals for me every single day. Deciding what to make and how long it will take to cut/peel vegetables and wash dishes gives me anxiety.

What better way to win the heart of a Latina than by cooking her favorite meal? Surprise her this Mother’s Day by making a traditional dish from your culture, such as sancocho or chupe. She’ll feel so loved because you took the time to make something that reminds her of home and that she genuinely enjoys.

Make a Gift Basket

If you have a little more time, make your mom a gift basket filled with small things you know she loves. This can be lipstick, single-use face masks, books, mugs, coffee, or socks with her favorite character – the possibilities are endless.

The fact that you put such careful thought behind looking for things that you think she will love and enjoy will surely win her heart over.  It does not have to be expensive either. Stores such as Walmart and Five Below offer a wide variety of products for prices as low as $1.

Spend Time Together

Now, we should celebrate the important Latina moms in our lives every single day. However, it is nice to have a holiday where it is all about them. It is easy to get lost in our mundane jobs and routines that we forget to take the time to make memories with those we love the most.

A simple walk in the park where you can just talk and catch up or an informal photoshoot on the beach with your phone is food for anyone’s soul, especially on Mother’s Day. This shows you genuinely care because instead of looking for some material object that gives instant gratification for a split second, this will genuinely nourish and grow your relationship.
