There is a lot of talk about women’s fertility at different ages and when it’s the perfect moment to conceive. The bad news is: there is no perfect moment, every age has its pros and cons. The good news is that you can make it work at almost any age. Here ‘s how pregnancy is different as you get older.
1. Pregnancy at 20
When you are this young, you are probably in your most fertile years. This means it will probably be easier to conceive. You have a 20% chance of getting pregnant every month when having unprotected sex. You are also at lower risk for hypertension and gestational diabetes, have a lower chance of miscarriage and a lower risk of birth defects for the baby. Emotionally, though, you might have a harder time, as getting pregnant this early in life probably means sacrificing career advancement or working on your marriage.
