When you think about where to go during the summertime, where do you envision yourself? Do you picture yourself sitting on the beach with a margarita while your children play in the water? Do you imagine hiking up mountains to see breathtaking views? Do you like to stay close to the comfort of your home?
When you have so many things to consider, deciding where to visit with your family during the summer can become overwhelming. The world offers so many beautiful destinations that I cannot blame you for not being able to make up your mind.
Whether you want to stay close to home or pack your bags and go to some far-off destination, here is a list of exciting places you can visit with your family.
Disney World
If your children are older, you can never go wrong with visiting Disney World in Orlando, FL. Your children can meet their favorite characters, attend parades, and watch the most spectacular fireworks displays they will probably ever see.
And let’s not forget all the readily available rides.
If your children do not like to go on rides, try visiting parks such as Animal Kingdom, where they can explore a safari while your other children get on rides. There is something for everyone.
Grand Canyon National Park
For those adventurous families that love to go hiking, the Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to visit. The massive, red rock formations will be sometime your children will talk about for years to come.
My family and I live in a coastal city, so we never get to see any mountains or exciting national parks. While we love going to the beach during the summertime, it can get boring pretty quickly as there is nothing else to do but water activities.
The Grand Canyon offers a wide array of activities and educational tours to enjoy a change of scenery.
Visit Your Local Botanical Garden
Moms, I get it. Sometimes, you have no energy to plan a lavish excursion. You want to keep your children entertained with something other than Paw Patrol and finger paints.
Lucky for you, in every city I have gone to, there is always a beautiful botanical garden.
I, for one, have always loved visiting gardens, especially when they have special exhibits going on.
While you marvel at the peace and beauty that nature has to offer, your children can enjoy learning about all the different plant and flower species. Botanical gardens have always proven to be a nice outdoor activity for families.
Chichen Itza
Mexico is a wonderful place to visit during the summertime. It’s a tropical destination that you can surely enjoy with your family. However, don’t make the mistake of staying secluded inside your all-inclusive resort.
This is not an authentic experience of Mexican culture.
Instead, take a day trip to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. There is a large step pyramid and plenty of history behind these ruins.
I love to take children on enlightening and educational excursions to continuously stimulate their minds during those days they are out of school.
Let’s embark on a journey that will make this summer one to remember!
