Mommy 411: Tips to help you baby sleep through the night
We know that during the first few weeks of your baby’s life, it’s impossible to establish a sleep schedule or to teach your baby to sleep through the night. Your little one needs to have frequent feedings, so it’s normal for him to experience short sleeping intervals.
Try to sleep whenever your baby sleeps so you can avoid feeling exhausted. Sleep deprivation can lead to depression, eating disorders and tensions with your spouse/family. We suggest the following ideas to help you create good sleeping habits for your baby:
1. During the first 3 or 4 weeks of life, you can swaddle your baby with a blanket so he feels more comfortable and secure.
2. Starting at 6 weeks, you can strenghthen your baby’s biological rhythm by establishing a bedtime routine. A good suggestion is to give your baby a relaxing bath, read a book to him, feed him or sing a lullaby, so when you finally put him to bed, he will be tired due to all the activities you shared during the day. Try to wake him up every morning at the same time and make sure he naps at the same time every day.
