Meet These Amazing Latinas, Part Of Fortune’s 50 Greatest World Leaders

Fortune recently released its annual list of the 50 Greatest World Leaders, highlighting trailblazers ranging from social activism to politics and 2016’s list stands apart for a very special reason. This year, a record-breaking 23 spots were awarded to women leaders, two of whom happen to be Latina Moms!

Check out some of these groundbreaking women and how they’re “transforming the world and inspiring others to do the same.”

  1. Reshma Saujani

    This busy mom and wife is founder and CEO of tech organization Girls Who Code and the former Deputy Public Advocate of New York City. The daughter of Ugandan refugees, Reshma became the first South Asian woman to run for Congress and is the author of the female-empowering book, “Women Who Don’t Wait in Line”.

  2. Anna Maria Chavez

    Born in Arizona of Mexican-American heritage, Anna is an award-winning community leader and currently serves as the chief executive of the Girl Scouts USA. A Yale University graduate, Anna’s impressive career includes a successful law career and posts in the Clinton administration. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband and son.

  3. Mina Guli

    At just 21, Guli suffered a debilitating injury and was told she would never be able to run again. Fast forward twenty years later, the Melbourne-born entrepreneur is to set to become the first person ever to run through seven deserts across seven continents. So far, she has already braved the Tabernas Desert in Spain, the severe conditions of Antarctica and the Arabian Desert in Jordan, all with the goal of raising awareness about water conservation.

  4. Christiana Figueres

    Costa Rican diplomat and mother of two, Christiana is the Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, essentially putting her in charge of the world’s response to global warming. This force to be reckoned with holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology as well as a certificate in Organizational Development from Georgetown University. With over 30 years of experience in her field, Christiana is also a sought-after public speaker and a widely published author.
